WIP 1 - Lena

Wait, what's this? A digital painting by the Huntress and it isn't covered in fur? Either something is amiss, or you're not in the gallery you think you are!

Nope, this is my gallery, and that's a human. I figured I'd give another dA contest a go; this is Lena from the upcoming movie Beautiful Creatures. Will I turn her Light or Dark? Well, you'll just have to wait around and see :3

I wasn't clock-watching this time around, but I estimate I've spent about 6 hours on this so far, which includes the lineart, flatcolor, and preliminary shading/lighting. (Which is, by far, a new speed record for me, especially when I do my own lineart!) I still need to add shading and lighting to the lips, eyes, and eyebrows, and enhance the shading and detail on her skin, clothes, and hair.

I typically prefer doing animals and anthros over humans, and those who Watch me will know I tend to work more in the 3D modelling program lately. But with this and the Shire Horses going as well as they are, I just might do some more full digital paintings. The early stages - especially with a human - still bug me because it takes a good bit of time and effort before things start shaping up properly. But I've learned to stick in there and use a few extra techniques I stumbled upon, and you know what... I'm halfway impressed with myself. I still have a long way to go, though. But thinking back to what I've done with humans in the past, I've come a long way. Huzzah!
